Transport
Unfortunately, we are not well served by public transport and we recommend that you have use of a car.
The nearest train station is in Kingham (3.8 miles). There is also one at Shipton (8 miles)
Excellent road access via A44, A424 and A436.
Local buses are very infrequent and relatively expensive but can occasionally be caught from outside The Horse & Groom.
There are various Taxi services based in and around Stow-on-the-Wold.
Arrival and Car parking
If you are arriving via car and have a GPS / SatNav system in the car, please use the postcode GL56 0XL.
There is an allocated parking space for Climbing Rose Cottage (No.3). There is only enough room for one car.
Depending on which end you enter Back Lane, look out for the Rose Walk Cottages sign, or the Crooked Cottage sign. Turn into the gravel driveway where you will see the parking space identified in front.
Main Entrance
The main entrance is at the front of the cottage. There is a 20-meter paved walk from the gravel carpark to the cottage.
The Cottage
Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of the site and the old building, Climbing Rose Cottages is unsuitable for wheel chair users or for those for whom steps present a major problem.
Light switches and door handles are set at standard heights.
The cottage has synthetic pillows and duvet and cotton linens. Towels are supplied.
The cottage is strictly non-smoking and we allow pets.
The cottage is fully equipped with quality crockery, cutlery, cookware and tableware. We also provide washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cloths and tea-towels. The appliances are all electric.
There is an internet connection point with cable in the cottage plus WiFi.
The cottage has 2 Smart T.V’s
Distance from drop off area to cottage is 25 metres along a slightly graduated paved path. There is one step down towards the cottage (approx. 25cm). There are 2 shallow steps (15mm high) into the cottage through the porch from the drop off point. There are no handrails leading to or inside the cottage.
Climbing Rose is on two levels. You enter an open plan kitchen / living area from the porch. The oven, microwave and fridge are all waist level. The floor is tiled throughout. Upstairs (10 carpeted stairs) is the bedroom has a kingsize bed (5ft wide by 6ft 6in long, 2x chairs, 2x bedside tables and a large wardrobe. The bedroom is carpeted. The bathroom (quite small) leads off from the bedroom. The bath has quite low sides (50cm) and an overhead shower. The floor is vinyl.
