The Old Butchers
Best for dinner • favourite
Set in a former butcher’s shop in Stow-on-the-Wold, this is one of the most talked-about places to eat in the north Cotswolds. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is spot on, and the menu leans towards seafood and well-executed British classics.
It’s my favourite, and ideal if you’re after a proper night out for dinner.
The Kingham Plough
Cosy pub • great food
A welcoming, easy-going pub with a cosy atmosphere and seriously good food, especially when it comes to local produce. It works just as well for a relaxed meal as it does for a few drinks that turn into dinner.
The Trough at Daylesford

Located at Daylesford Organic, The Trough serves simple, seasonal dishes using organic produce grown just steps away. The setting is beautiful, the space is calm, and it’s an easy place to while away an afternoon after browsing the farm shop.
The Wild Rabbit
Stylish pub • Sunday roast
A stylish but comfortable pub in Kingham, with a more refined restaurant space alongside a relaxed bar menu. The Sunday roast is a highlight.
Chris calls this his happy place: fire on, pint in hand, newspaper open.

The King’s Head
Sunday lunch • local favourite
A proper, no-nonsense village pub and my go-to for Sunday lunch. Expect a roaring fire, a genuinely local atmosphere and one of the best sticky toffee puddings around.
Well worth the short drive.

The location
About us
Hi, we’re Chris and Clare, along with Lola and Ruby, our two dogs.
After spending time in the Cotswolds, we wanted somewhere we could escape to ourselves and also share with guests, and Climbing Rose Cottage felt like the perfect fit.
We still spend time there regularly, and we think that shows. It’s more homely than a typical holiday let, with comfort and ease very much in mind.
You’ll be left to enjoy the cottage in peace during your stay. We’re based around an hour away, but always on hand if you need anything or have a question.
We hope this gives you a good sense of the cottage. If you’d like any more information before booking, just drop us a line.
